Chihuahuas shut out in Fresno
El Paso, TX — Fresno starter Chris Heston pitched 7.2 shutout innings Sunday in the Grizzlies 6-0 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas. The Chihuahuas won the first game of the series Thursday but dropped the last three meetings.
Fresno scored the game’s first run on Mark Minicozzi’s RBI single in the first inning. The Grizzlies added three unearned runs in the sixth on Chris Dominguez’s two-out, three-run home run, which was preceded by a Chihuahuas error a few batters before. El Paso made two errors in the game, helping Fresno score four unearned runs.
El Paso starter Donn Roach threw well, allowing just one earned run in six innings of work. Chihuahuas catcher Rocky Gale went 2-for-3 in the loss, raising his batting average to .311. Sunday was the fourth time the Chihuahuas were shut out in 2014.
