Minor League Baseball is currently putting some of MiLB's lids head-to-head in a heated competition for bragging rights in the 'Lid Leader board.'

The competition was set up to determine who has the best cap, and perhaps the best fans, in minor league baseball. As of 5 pm Thursday afternoon, the Chihuahuas were in third place in MiLB behind the Richmond Flying Squirrels and the Quad Cities River Bandits.

Voting for the Clash of the Caps competition will continue through Thursday, May 22 when MiLB will announce the 2014 Clash of the Caps winner.

Perhaps like baseball itself, the Clash of the Caps may be more about maintaining consistency throughout the season--or voting period. The Chihuahuas have been ranked as high as first in the Clash.

Brad Taylor addressed the voting process during a recognition ceremony of City Manager Joyce Wilson on Thursday. Taylor said that the support of the community for the team and its feisty mascot was evident everywhere, from game attendance all the way through online voting in the Clash of the Caps competition.

Bragging rights are on the line, and El Paso is ready to come out top dog, so make sure to vote often, El Paso.
