El Paso Chihuahuas
Tuesday, August 5, 2014 - 12:23pm

The El Paso Chihuahuas took an early 1-0 lead over Reno Monday night but eventually fell to the Aces 4-3 at Southwest University Park. The Aces have won the first three games of the four-game series. Zach Borenstein hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning in the Aces win.

The Chihuahuas loaded the bases with no outs in the first inning, but Reno starter Andrew Chafin limited El Paso to one run on a Cody Decker sacrifice fly. Trailing 4-1 in the sixth, the Chihuahuas scored two runs on Jonathan Galvez’s RBI double and Alex Castellanos’ RBI fielder’s choice. The Chihuahuas left two runners on base at the end of the sixth inning and did not score in the seventh through ninth innings.

Stephen Kohlscheen pitched a scoreless outing Monday in his second appearance in the Padres organization after being traded by the Seattle Mariners. Chris Rearick and Jerry Sullivan did not allow any runs in their outings Monday. Rearick hasn’t surrendered an earned run in 10 of his last 11 appearances.
