UPDATED: Thursday, June 12, 2014 - 8:11pm

Heavyweight David Rodriguez and amateur standouts Javier Munoz, Mike Uzeta, Ysaias Zamudio, Mauricio 'Chito' Barragan and Enrique Estrada will be inducted into the El Paso Boxing Hall of Fame in ceremonies this summer.  The induction ceremony will be June 14 at Region XIX, 6611 Boeing Drive.

Anthony Sandoval, Ricardo Reyna, Edward Elmer Wilkes, Pablo Gerardo Rodarte Mendoza, Andrea Schmidt and Francisco Jorge will be inducted into the El Paso Martial Arts Hall of Fame at the same ceremony.

"We have another great class — both in boxing and in the martial arts," Hall of Fame president Tom McKay said. "Each one of these inductees has distinguished himself or herself above and beyond in their career. Each one has made El Paso proud."

Mauricio "Chito" Barragan will receive the boxing legends award and Colonel Mack Boone will receive the martial arts legends award.

Rodriguez, who is still active in his career, has a record of 36-1 with 34 knockouts. Munoz had an outstanding amateur career, winning a national championship and earning a spot as an Olympic alternate. Uzeta, too, had a strong career, winning eight regional championships and three state championships.

Sandoval teamed with his brother Hilary to manage and promote world champion kick boxer Cliff "Magic" Thomas as a teenager. The two brothers then formed Battlestar Karatica and added more world champions. He was killed in a plane crash in 1981. Reyna won boxing and karate tournaments for more than four decades.

"We will honor a number of fighters for their yearly accomplishments and we will honor the beautiful children from Candlelighters," McKay said. "They are the true champions."

The event is sold out.
