The football season came to a disappointing end for El Dorado on Wednesday afternoon when University Interscholastic League officials denied the school's appeal of using an ineligible player.
The ruling costs the Aztecs two victories, dropping them into fifth place in District 1-5A and out of the playoffs. Coronado takes El Dorado's place in the postseason and will play San Angelo Central on Saturday in Midland.
El Dorado discovered a possible problem with residency requirements and self reported the apparent infraction on Saturday to the UIL. The subsequent ruling required the Aztecs to forfeit two games, with the appeal being denied today during a board hearing in Lubbock.
