College Sports Madness announced the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) preseason all-conference teams, Thursday, Jan. 19, with NM State landing six players on the first team and two on the second team.
Junior Zac Fisher was named a first team selection and was also named Field Player of the Year after being named to the College Sports Madness All-American team (fourth team). Senior closing pitcher Scott Coffman, who tallied a 1.88 ERA last season to go along with nine saves, joins Fisher on the first team with junior second baseman Parker Hipp, senior shortstop Tyler Forney, and senior outfielders Bryan Karraker and Tanner Waite.

"It is exciting to see that we are getting recognized," head coach Rocky Ward said.

Junior starting pitcher Ryan Beck and senior third baseman Zach Voight were named second team selections. Beck picked up 10 wins in 2011 and is only one of five pitchers in NM State baseball history to do so. He was the first to accomplish the feat since Jaime Mendes did it in 1995.

The Aggies open the year with the Annual Alumni Game, Saturday, Feb. 11 at Presley Askew Field and open regular-season play with a four-game series against Wake Forest at home starting Feb. 17. Keep up with the 2012 Aggie baseball team at www.NMStateSports.com.
