East All-Stars end West Win Streak, 24-14
Americas running back Jack Fields scored the first touchdown of the 20th High School All-Star Showcase Saturday afternoon giving the East squad a 10-0 lead over the West, the first of three touchdowns for the East giving them the 24-14 win ending a two-year losing streak.
The West pulled within 3 when Andress running back Rashad Chisholm broke a 70-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The score was 10-7 at halftime.
Andrew Hernandez from Riverside caught a 10-yard touchdown from Horizon's Patrick Rossy in the 3rd quarter for a 17-7 lead and Riverside quarterback Brian Hinojo scored on a 1-yard QB sneak to put the East up 24-7 in the 4th quarter.
The Franklin's Brandon Layne connected with his high school teammate Christian Haack for a 67-yard touchdown pass to make it a 10-point game, but the East's defense would hold on for the win.
