Sunday, August 8: Anthony Dudley is just a 14 year old track and field athlete, playing football when track and field allows it. But after the Junior Olympic National Championships in Sacramento two weeks ago, Dudley looks to focus more on track. At the Championships, Dudley won the discus national title with a throw of 191-7, a national junior olympic record. Dudley took home gold in the discus, just like what his older brother did at the 4A State Championships two years ago. Matt Dudley, Anthony's older brother who competed at Houston in 2009, won the 4A State Championship in the discus. Now Anthony looks to break his older brother's records. Anthony and Matt's father, Steve Dudley, threw the discus in college, and now acts as their coach. "It's good to see them out there representing El Paso. You know, bringing attention to El Paso is a good thing." Anthony Dudley added, "I have been training really hard for my technique, and been practicing a lot, I guess. My technique was a little bit more ahead of everybody else's, and it got me the gold at nationals. My brother told me just to not get a big head, and always stay representing El Paso, and stay good where you came from and practice hard and train hard."
