Forth Worth scored runs in seven different frames en route to a 14-9 win against El Paso at Cohen Stadium. Both teams were scoreless during the first two innings, and the Cats got on the board first in the top of the third when left fielder John Allen and center fielder Brian Fryer combined for three RBI. Both teams scored during the third, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, but after El Paso scored its last two runs in the sixth, the Cats held onto the momentum. Designated hitter Ryan Patterson batted in a run in the top of the eighth and Fryer had an RBI in the ninth to seal the deal. The Cats had 18 total hits and El Paso had 16. Seven different Cats had more than one hit in the game, and right fielder Marcos Rodriguez led the way with four hits and three runs in five at-bats. Eight different Diablos recorded hits, while first baseman Javier Brito led El Paso with four hits, two runs and three RBI in five at-bats. Scott Vander Weg, now 2-2 on the season, earned the win by allowing three hits, two runs and striking out one in four innings pitched.
