Diablos pull out double header sweep in day one

Diablos pull out double header sweep in day one
Diablos
Sports
Friday, August 9, 2013 - 3:16pm

In the first of three double headers the Diablos dominate the Amarillo Sox winning the first game 19-2, and the second game 8-4 over Amarillo in dominating fashion.

Game one was an absolute demolishing of the Sox by the Diablos as they scored a whopping 19 runs, the Diablos went up early and never looked back. Besides the Diablos 19 runs on 25 hits, the pitching was superb for the Diablos as Reyes Dorado went 7.0 innings only giving up two runs with four strikeouts. Every Diablo hitter recorded a hit in the game, there were six Diablos with three or more hits, and the player of the game was undoubtedly shortstop Maikol Gonzalez who went 3 for 6 with six RBIs!

In game two the Diablos couldn’t duplicate their offensive success from game one, but nevertheless they got the win in a closer contested battle by the Sox. After going down 2-0, the Diablos came back with a four run inning, to take the lead. Most of the game was close, but in the later stages the Diablos pulled away, clinching back to back wins over Amarillo. Shortstop Maikol Gonzalez was once again huge for the Diablos with three hits and four RBIs, and six hits and 10 RBIs through the first two games.

In the first two games the Diablos have showed some remarkable offensive numbers, recording 27 runs on 37 hits, with a combined Batting Average of .440!

The Diablos are now 27-50 this season with four more games against the Amarillo Sox, in there six game series. The Diablos play tomorrow night; 5:30 here at Cohen Stadium!
