Diablos Give Up 5 In The Bottom of The 9th And Fall To Fort Worth
Fort Worth scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to catch up and edge El Paso 10-9 at LaGrave Field. After two innings, El Paso held a 3-0 lead, but Fort Worth tied the score in the bottom of the fifth inning when third baseman Will Calhoun batted in two runs. El Paso scored six of the next eight runs during the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, but Forth Worth turned it on the in bottom of the ninth. Trailing El Paso 9-5 in the ninth inning, four different Cats recorded at least one RBI, and Fort Worth scored five runs in four hits to seal the deal. Calhoun led Forth Worth with four hits, one run and five RBI in four at-bats, while designated hitter John Allen chipped in three hits and three runs in four at-bats. Shortstop Maikol Gonzalez was one of three Diablos to record multiple hits in the game, and he had two hits, two runs and two RBI in four at-bats. Nick DeBarr, now 3-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing no hits, no runs and striking out one in one inning pitched.
