Diablos Get Road Win over Wichita

Diablos Get Road Win over Wichita
Sports
Thursday, June 30, 2011 - 10:45pm

El Paso scored seven runs in the top of the second inning en route to a 10-5 win against Wichita in Lawrence Durmont Stadium. Wichita registered 16 total hits, and designated hitter Ryan Patterson and third baseman Juan Richardson each had four. But it still wasn't enough to top the Diablos. Adam Deleo hit a two-RBI double in the second inning, and Kory Drew followed with a two-RBI triple. Later in the inning, Drew scored from an Albenis Machado single and Kyle Nichols hit a two-run homer to give El Paso a 7-0 lead. The Wingnuts scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning, and one in each of the fifth, eighth and ninth innings. Deleo led El Paso with one run, one hit and three RBI in four at-bats, and four different Diablos recorded more than one hit in the game. Scott Hodsdon earned his second win of the season, allowing 11 hits, three runs and striking out eight in six innings pitched.
