After a fast start in the first inning the Diablos lost a close contest against the Amarillo Sox.

First Baseman Brian Joynt started off the season in style with a three run home run in the bottom of the first inning, to give the Diablos a 3-0 lead. Starting pitcher David Casillas got off to a solid start, but had a tough third inning giving up five runs, and two runs in the fourth inning to give the Amarillo Sox a 7-3 lead.

The Diablos made it close again with a two run inning, in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the Sox matched the Diablos with two runs of their own in the top of the sixth inning, to extend their lead to 9-5.

The next three innings went scoreless as the Amarillo Sox took the first of a four game series against the Diablos. The Diablos play the Amarillo Sox tomorrow, 7:05 at Cohen Stadium.
