Monday, June 14:  Amad Stephens was dominant as he threw a complete game three hit shut-out of the Fort Worth Cats as the Diablos won 6-0 at LaGrave Field on Monday night. Kyle Nichols provided the offense as Nichols hit two home runs and drove in four runs. The Diablos finished the road trip 4-3 and take the four game series from the Cats.

Stephens (2-3) was fantastic in shutting down the Cats offense. Amad did not allow a hit until two outs in the fifth inning. After that Stephens went on to allow just two more hits the rest of the way. He walked four and struck out six. Stephens has now tossed 16 straight scoreless innings. The Diablos pitching staff has allowed just two runs, only one being earned over their last 27 innings.

Kyle Nichols started his big night in the second inning when he hit his first home run of the night bringing in Bryon Smith. Nichols and Smith would hook up again in the fourth inning when his second two run home run of the night would make the score 4-0. The Diablos would add a run in the sixth inning on a bases loaded walk before J.D. Reininger would hit a home run to make it 6-0.

Nichols ended the night 3-4 with the two home runs and a walk. After his two home runs to start the night, Nichols had hit three home runs in four plate appearances tracing it back to his home run on Sunday afternoon. He went 5-7 with two home runs, five RBI and three walks over his last two games. The offense as a whole had ten hits on the night. Bryon Smith went 2-4 with a walk while Hector Bernal went 2-5.

The Diablos will head home to start a six game home stand. The Diablos welcome in the Pensacola Pelicans on Tuesday night. They will send Trevor Fox (0-0-, 0.00) to the mound for his first start against Bryan Rembisz (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is slated for 7:05.
