Nelson Teilon hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to give El Paso an early lead, and the Diablos held on to top Amarillo 6-3 at Cohen Stadium. Both teams scored one run in each of the second, fourth and fifth innings, but for the Sox, it just wasn’t enough to come back. Three different Diablos had more than one hit in the game, and first baseman Javier Brito led with three hits and one run in four at-bats. Third baseman Van Pope was the only Amarillo player to record more than one hit, and he led with three hits, two runs and one RBI in four at-bats. El Paso recorded 15 total hits in the game while Amarillo had just six, and the Diablos left seven men on base. Reymond Cruz, now 4-6 on the season, earned the win by allowing five hits, three runs and striking out seven in 6.1 innings pitched.
