Fort Worth soared out to an 8-0 lead after three innings played as they defeated El Paso 10-7. Cats DH Ryan Patterson hit an RBI single in the first inning and LF John Allen hit a two-RBI single three batters later. The Cats plated three more runs in the second frame and two runs in the third to establish a big early lead. The Diablos then scored five unanswered runs to cut Fort Worth’s lead to 8-5. The Cats recovered, tallying an insurance run in the sixth and eighth inning to outlast El Paso’s persistent comeback. Patterson went 4-for-6 at the plate and Allen went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. Allen, Patterson, C Kelley Gulledge and RF Marcos Rodriguez all had two RBIs in the game for Fort Worth. Cats starting pitcher Dwayne Pollok tossed seven innings and allowed five earned runs on eleven hits to earn the win. Cats reliever Nick DeBarr conceded a run in the bottom of the ninth but still fanned two batters in the inning and earned the save. For the Diablos, DH Scott Hodsdon hit a three-RBI triple in the loss.
