Dallas Dodges Defeat

Sports

POSTED: Sunday, November 18, 2012 - 9:49pm

UPDATED: Sunday, November 18, 2012 - 11:35pm

Tony Romo picked himself off the turf ro the seventh time and went back to work.  After suffered seven sacks the Dallas Cowboys rallied for a 23-20 win in overtime against Cleveland.

The victory wasn't secure until Dan Bailey kicked a 38 yard field goal with 6:07 remaining in overtime.  Dan was the man.  The Cowboys kicker also hit a 26 yarder with two seconds remaining in regulation to tie the game.

When Romo wasn't sacked he was completing passes to Dez Bryant.  The Cowboys receiver had a career high 145 yards receiving including a 28 yard touchdown.

It certainly did not look like the Cowboys would be celebrating.  Cleveland led 13-0 at the half and led 20-17 with 1:07 left in the game.

That's when Romo rallied the team.  He completed 35 of 50 passes for 313 yards including the game tying drive and game winning drive in overtime.

"We knew it was going to be a dog fight. We weren't as effecient in our execution early on. I thought our defense did a good job just kind of hanging in there and making it hard on them. We weren't doing enough on offense, that changed a little bit in the second half. Collectively, we did enough to win the game," said Jason Garrett. Tony Romo added about the importance of the games at this point in the season, "Anybody who's watching understands how important this football game was. You could feel it, with the sense of urgency our team played with, and at the same time, our backs were against the wall wiith our record last week. We're still there, so we need to continue to win football games."
