Cowboys Playoffs Hopes Alive Despite Loss to Saints

Sports

POSTED: Sunday, December 23, 2012 - 11:35pm

UPDATED: Sunday, December 23, 2012 - 11:36pm

The Dallas Cowboys fell to New Orleans, 34-31 in overtime, but the 'Boys playoff hopes are still alive.  Next Sunday, the Cowboys will face Washington with the NFC East Division title on the line.  Due to their division record, the Cowboys can still win the NFC East despite being eliminated from the NFC wild card race.  That game has been flexed to prime time by the NFL.

Tony Romo threw for 416 yards, 224 yards to Dez Bryant, but Dallas fell to 8-7 overall.  Washington is 9-6, and will host the Cowboys at 6:30pm MT Sunday.

"I thought they fought really, really hard in all three phases. Appreciated how they just put it all out there. Ultimately they made a couple more plays than we did. We battled on offense, we battled on defense, we battled on the kick game and ultimately we didn't get it done," said Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett.  Dallas QB Tony Romo added, "It's about winning and losing and you do everything in your power to help your football team to do what it takes to win and when you don't, you'll use the experiences to get better, but as far as standing up here and feeling good, it doesn't."
