HBO and Top Rank officials met with UTEP officials Wednesday morning at the Sun Bowl to survey the stadium as a possible host for a June 16th, World Championship boxing match featuring Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr.

Should the fight take place at the Sun Bowl, it would be the second time HBO would host a match at the stadium. The first coming in 1998 featuring Oscar De La Hoya.

Fight officials say the fight has potential to reach a global audience.

"The worldwide audience for an event like this is going to be over 100 foreign countries. So you have the domestic broadcast and the additional countries probably equates to an audience over 100 million people," said boxing promoter Lester Bedford. He added that, "It's a big deal. It's a real big deal. You can't get any bigger than this. You could put an NFL game in here and you still wouldn't have the same TV audience."

An opponent has yet to be announced for the bout and El Pasoan Antonio Escalante is rumored to be on the undercard.
