Castillo throws out first pitch in honor of son

Joe Castillo still remembers when his son, Frank, took the mound for the first time in 1984 at Eastwood High School.  Castillo said it seemed like yesterday when it happened.

Now today, Joe took the mound to honor his son, Frank, a former Major League pitcher for the Cubs and the Red Sox.  Frank tragically drowned in a lake in Arizona last summer at the age of 44.  Joe threw out the first pitch before the Eastwood baseball game at home against Burges.

Ruly Medrano, the Eastwood baseball coach, invited Castillo, and teammates of Frank's from his Trooper baseball career, to join Frank's father on the mound for the ceremonial first pitch.

"It's really, a lot of good memories and wish our son was back here with us but I'm sure he's looking down at us. It is easier because I met all the ball players that Frank knew and were friends with Frank."

In something that would have made Frank proud, Eastwood defeated Burges, 10-1, to improve to 5-0.
