For the second consecutive year the Burges tennis team has been crowned with the District Title after beating rival El Paso High 10-7 on Thursday. For the Mustangs, the fact that it was over the Tigers made their 14th district championship in the last 16 years even sweeter.

"We always know every year it's going to come down to El Paso High and Burges for the championship. I think it's been that way for the last 8 years," said Head Coach Scott Spivey. "When you can beat your rival, it's always exciting and fun."

"It was a big match because the six seniors on this team. We each wanted to win our own match. I know we all tried our hardest and we wanted to keep the tradition going for Burges," said senior captain Daniel Holguin.

Now Burges, ranked #17 in the State, will head for Wichita Falls, Texas for the Region Tournament where they finished 5th last season.
