Burges prepares for Amarillo

Sports

POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2013 - 9:59pm

UPDATED: Monday, February 25, 2013 - 11:43pm

Burges Brothers Aaron and Alvin Jones combined for 50 points in their 68-58 win Friday over Palo Duro but now they face an Amarillo team that only gave up 35 to the Bowie Bears. On the line is a ticket to the Regional Semifinals and the Mustangs know it is going to come down to defense.

Head Coach Paul Gutierrez discribed the team as, "a solid team. They have a lot of players that can shoot the three. They've got some height, a couple players over 6'5". So we are going to have our work cut out. "

"They get a lot of offensive rebounds. They are a lot like Montwood. Run their offense until you mess up and then get an easy layup," said Alvin.

His brother Aaron added, "We are trying to go as deep as we can. We are trying to win a State Championship. We've accomplished one of our goals but we've just got to keep winning. Keep playing as a team."

Tip off is 5pm MT at Odessa College.
