Sports
Saturday, December 15, 2012 - 11:42pm

Seven schools in the Big East Conference that don't play football announced Saturday that they have voted unanimously to leave the Big East and pursue a new basketball framework.

The schools are DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall and Villanova.

The schools are expected to follow conference protocol, giving a 27-month notice, meaning they will not leave until June 30th, 2015.

there are not plans as of yet where the schools are headed. This new group of departures joins Rutgers, Louisville and Notre Dame who have already announced their plans to leave the Big East earlier this year.
