Bel Air Soccer Ready to Start Season as 5th Ranked Team in Nation

Sports

POSTED: Monday, January 10, 2011 - 6:37pm

UPDATED: Monday, January 10, 2011 - 10:11pm

According to ESPN RISE, the Bel Air Boys Soccer team is ranked #5 in the nation, this after ending last season with a 28-2 overall record, and a closer-than-expected shootout loss to the #1 ranked team in the nation, Dallas Jesuit, in the 5A Elite Eight playoffs in 2010.

Bel Air is once again led by Head Coach Sergio Delgado, who has continually led the Highlanders to the playoffs year in and year out.  He said the teams goals are still the same, dominate.  "Our goals are to win district, make the playoffs, and from there, just start stepping up, Area, Bi-District, Quarter regionals, getting to the sweet 16, and then passing that elite eight.," said Delgado.

Senior Alejandro Porras said, "I think the team is really proud about being named 5th in the nation, but we won't let it go to our heads. We have worked hard for this."  Senior  Jace Duarte added, "it takes a lot of hard work, dedication and teamwork. "

Bel Air will compete in the Franklin/Coronado Boys Soccer this Thursday through Saturday at Coronado and Franklin High Schools.
