The 2011 New Mexico-West Texas Amateur Championship will be held July 22-24, 2011 at UNM Championship Golf Club in Albuquerque, N.M. The event will feature the top amateur golfers in the Sun Country borders vying for the tournament title and trying to notch themselves on the winner’s list alongside past winners like Tommy Armour III, Bart Bryant, Rich Beem and D.J. Brigman and others who have won more than $28 million on professional tours.

The 35th annual event will feature a field of 69 amateurs from all over the Sun Country Amateur Golf Association teeing it up at the renowned UNM Championship Golf Club. This year’s champion will not only claim SCAGA’s most storied and respected event, but will also receive invitations to play in national events like the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship, the Sunnehanna Amateur Championship, the Scratch Players Championship and the Southwestern Amateur Championship.

Tee times will start at 7:00am on Friday and Saturday of the Championship, after which the field will be cut to the low 2/3. The final round will begin at 7:00am as well. Members of the media will have access to all competitors and tournament officials.
