UPDATED: Sunday, January 22, 2012 - 8:05pm

Despite a late second-half rally, the New Mexico State men's basketball team fell at Hawai'i, 91-87, which snapped a six-game win streak.

The Aggies (14-6, 4-1) suffered their first loss in WAC play with five players in double-figures. Junior forward Bandja Sy collected his first-career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, both career-high marks.

Senior center Hamidu Rahman had 16 points, while redshirt senior forward Wendell McKines contributed 14 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Hernst Laroche supplied 13 points, and freshman guard Daniel Mullings added 12.

At halftime, the Aggies trailed Hawai'i, 44-34, behind 12 points from Rahman. Laroche and Sy added seven points each.

NM State controlled the game early with a three-point lead, 10-7, at 17:33. A 16-1 Hawai'i run and cold shooting hurt the Aggies, and they trailed 23-11 with 8:20 left in the first half.

The Aggie offense was sparked with a Rahman three-point play that ignited a 7-0 rally that cut the Rainbow Warriors lead to seven, 23-18, at 6:23. The Aggies hit 6-of-10 shots in the run after starting the game, 3-of-19.

NM State pulled within one, 33-32, with a monstrous dunk from Sy at 1:33, but Hawai'i responded with a 10-2 run to end the half.

In the second half, the Aggies fell behind by 19 points, 69-50 with 11:51 remaining in regulation. An aggressive Aggie defense cut Hawai'i's lead to four, 87-83 on a 3-pointer from Sy with less than a minute to play.

The Aggies return home to host Nevada, Thursday, Jan. 26 and Fresno State, Saturday, Jan. 28.
