Aggies Take On Nationally Ranked Rice

The New Mexico State baseball team plays six games this week with two on the road and four at home. NM State starts with a two-game midweek road series against nationally ranked Rice, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 21-22 then returns home for a four-game set against Sacred Heart, Friday through Sunday, Feb. 24-26. Both games against Rice are being played Reckling Park in Houston, Texas and start at 3:30pm (MT). The series opener against Sacred Heart is scheduled for a 4:05pm (MT) start, while Saturday's doubleheader begins at 2:05pm (MT). The series finale, Sunday, Feb. 26 starts at 2:05p.m.
 

Media Coverage: The games against Rice in Houston, Texas start at 3:30pm (MT) and will be tape delayed on KSNM AM 570 at 6pm (MT) but will air live on the Internet at www.NMStateSports.com. The series opener against Sacred Heart at 4:05pm is scheduled to air live on KSNM AM 570 as well as the series finale, Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2:05pm. Long time voice of Aggie Baseball, Jeff Matthews returns for another season to give the play-by-play action. Fans can listen to Matthews give the action from anywhere in the world for a fee by going to the official website of NM State Athletics and clicking on the live events link.

Tickets: Fans can call the Pan American Center ticket office or call (575) 646-1420 to purchase tickets ahead of time or walk up to the ticket booth at Presley Askew Field to buy tickets the day of the game. Season tickets for baseball are $49 for adults, $44 for NM State faculty and staff and $44 for senior citizens. Single game tickets cost $6 for adults and $4 per ticket with groups of ten or more. Children 12-and-under can enter the games for free, while NM State students also get in free.
 

Promotions: This weekend is Fan Appreciation Weekend and is sponsored by Hampton Inn and Suites. Fans who wear Crimson to the NM State vs. Sacred Heart series will receive a discounted rate on tickets into the game. The first 50 people to Saturday's doubleheader at 2:05pm will get a free Aggie Bobblehead. Hot dogs at Sunday's series finale will be 50-cents and there will be a post-game autograph session with the Aggies.


About the Aggies: The New Mexico State baseball team heads into week two of play with a 3-1 record after taking the season opening series from ACC participant, Wake Forest. So far the Aggies have scored 26 runs which ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference, while their 37 hits ranks third in the league. Just as in most years, NM State leads the WAC in walks after drawing 26 in the first four games of play. The pitching staff seems to be much improved with a team ERA of 3.50, which is third in the league. The Aggies have totaled 38 strikeouts with Adam Mott leading the way with nine. Left-hander Ryan Beck posted seven in his first outing of 2012.
