Aggies Roll over Louisiana 79-57

The New Mexico State men's basketball team downed Louisiana, 79-57, with five players in double figures. Senior forward Bandja Sy had a season-high 16 points to help the Aggies improve to 3-3 on the season.

Sy was 6-of-8 from the field including 2-for-2 from the 3-point line. He blocked four of the nine shots, which was a season-best showing. Senior forward Tyrone Watson and junior guard Kevin Aronis both scored 12 points, which was a personal-best for Aronis. Sophomore guard K.C. Ross-Miller also supplied the offense with 11. Junior center Tshilidzi Nephawe posted his second double-double of the year with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

The Aggies started the game with a 10-0 run and never looked back. The Crimson and White had a 41-18 lead at the half. Sy scored a game-high 11 points in the first 20 minutes of action on a 4-of-6 shooting performance including a monster dunk over the Ragin' Cajuns. Nephawe contributed seven points and nine rebounds, and Ross-Miller and sophomore guard Daniel Mullings added seven points each.

In the first half, NM State shot 50 percent from behind the 3-point line (5-for-10), with Aronis hitting 2-of-4. The Aggie defense held Louisiana to an 18.5 field goal percentage (5-of-27).

NM State meets UTEP, Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. in El Paso, Texas in the first rivalry game of the year.
