The Aggies posted a 35-18 halftime lead over the Spartans (9-9, 3-4). This was the second straight game NM State has held opponents to 18 points in the first half.

The Crimson and White bench was very effective in the first 20 minutes with a 17-6 advantage. Junior forward Renaldo Dixon scored seven points, and junior guard Kevin Aronis hit a pair of 3-pointers for six points. Watson added seven points on 3-of-4 shooting.

NM State crashed the boards in the first half for a 32-14 advantage including 16 offensive rebounds. Mullings had a game-high six rebounds, and freshman center Sim Bhullar grabbed five.
In the second half, the Aggies shot the ball well with a 57.9 field goal percentage (11-of-19). Sy directed the offense in the second period with 12 points as he was 4-of-5 from the field and 4-of-4 at the free-throw line.

Defensively, Dixon managed the lane and had three of his four blocked shots, which ties a career-high mark, in the second half. He ended the game with nine points.
