Aggies Meet Seattle in Lou Henson Classic

The New Mexico State men's basketball team welcomes Seattle, Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m. to the Pan American Center for the Lou Henson Classic. The game is an AggieVision production with Jeff Matthews and Glen Cerny. The game can be heard on the Aggie Sports Network and KGRT 104 FM in Las Cruces with the 'Voice of the Aggies' Jack Nixon, and the pregame show starts 30 minutes prior to tip. The game is shown live on Comcast across New Mexico and ESPN3 and tape delayed in Las Cruces until 10 p.m. and on Fox Sports-Arizona until 1 a.m.
New Mexico State Aggies
The Aggies have won 10 straight games and have a 16-8 overall record and 10-2 WAC record after edging Idaho, 76-74, Feb .7. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings is leading the team with 14.2 points per game, and senior forwards Bandja Sy is also in double figures 11.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, while freshman center Sim Bhullar adds 10.1 points per contest.
The Redhawks are 7-15 overall and 2-10 after falling at Denver, 72-55, Feb. 7. Redshirt junior forward Clarence Trent leads the Seattle offense with 11.0 points per game, and redshirt freshman forward Deshaun Sundershaus adds 9.6 points per game.
The Aggies have a 2-1 lead in the all-time series following an 83-82 win in double overtime in Seattle, Jan. 10.
NM State recorded its first WAC road win of the year with an 83-82 victory in double overtime at Seattle, Jan. 10. Senior forward Tyrone Watson scored a career-high 26 points. This was the first multiple overtime game for the Aggies since the triple overtime thriller against Boise State in the 2008 WAC Championship game. Senior forward Bandja Sy contributed 23 points including a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force the first overtime. En route to his career-high performance, Watson scored 14 points in the second half. He added five assists and seven steals, which helped the Aggies to a season-high 15 steals. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings also helped defensively with seven steals along with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Aggies Survive Idaho for 10th Straight Win
Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings sank two free throws with 14 seconds left in regulation to beat Idaho, 76-74, Feb. 7 in Las Cruces. The Aggies won their 10th consecutive game. Mullings scored seven points and had four assists in 40 minutes of action. Freshman center Sim Bhullar led the Aggies in scoring with 20 points on an 8-of-8 performance from the field. Sophomore guard Terrel de Rouen had a career-high 12 points and a steal in the final 16 seconds of the game that set up the Mullings free throws. Junior forward Renaldo Dixon was also in double-digits with 12 points, which tied a season-high mark, and senior forward Bandja Sy recorded a career-high 15 rebounds and scored nine points.
Lou Henson Classic
Since the inception of the Lou Henson Classic in the 2006-07 season, the Aggies are 7-1 in the classic. NM State has won the last five games with wins over Fresno State, 60-56, Jan, 28, 2012, Pacific, 69-64, Dec. 18, 2010, Texas Southern, 79-75, Dec. 23, 2009, Sacramento State, 76-65, Dec. 11, 2008 and Chicago State, 94-61, Nov. 30, 2007. The only loss in the classic was to North Texas, 75-72, Dec. 1, 2007. The Aggies defeated Chicago State, 80-74, Dec. 1, 2006, and San Francisco, 89-78, Dec. 2, 2006.
