Aggies Finish Road Trip at Idaho

The New Mexico State men's basketball team concludes its road trip at Idaho, Saturday, Jan. 12 in Moscow, Idaho at 8 p.m. The game can be heard on the Aggie Sports Network and KGRT 104 FM in Las Cruces with the 'Voice of the Aggies' Jack Nixon, and the pregame show starts 30 minutes prior to tip.

New Mexico State Aggies
The Aggies are 9-8 and 3-2 in the WAC following a double overtime 83-82 win at Seattle, Jan. 10. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings is leading the team with 15.3 points per game. Senior forward Tyrone Watson is also in double figures with 10.8 points per contest.

Scouting Idaho
The Vandals have a 6-8 overall record and 2-2 conference record after falling in their WAC home opener to Denver, 55-49, Jan. 10. Senior center Kyle Barone leads Idaho with 15.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Junior forward Stephen Madison and sophomore guard Connor Hill are also helping the offense with 15.2 and 10.4 points per game, respectively.

Series Notes
The Aggies have a 20-4 all-time lead in the series with Idaho. Last year, the teams split the series with each program winning on its home court. NM State won 80-68, Jan. 14, 2012 in Las Cruces, and Idaho won, 59-58, Feb. 9, 2012 in Moscow, Idaho.

Previous Meeting
The Aggies suffered a one-point loss at Idaho, 59-58, Feb. 9, 2012, to snap a five-game win streak over the Vandals. Forward Wendell McKines and center Hamidu Rahman led the team with 12 points each. Guard Hernst Laroche and forward Tyrone Watson supplied nine points each. Watson also had a career-high eight assists. NM State had a late lead but Idaho inched its way back and pulled within one, 58-57, with 1:53 to play. The Aggies were without Laroche for the final 2:08 after he fouled out on an offensive foul. NM State maintained a lead until Idaho hit a jumper with five seconds to go.

Aggies Earn Road Win at Seattle in 2OT
NM State recorded its first WAC road win of the year with an 83-82 victory in double overtime at Seattle, Jan. 10. Senior forward Tyrone Watson scored a career-high 26 points. This was the first multiple overtime game for the Aggies since the triple overtime thriller against Boise State in the 2008 WAC Championship game. Senior forward Bandja Sy contributed 23 points including a 3-pointer at the end of regulation to force the first overtime. En route to his career-high performance, Watson scored 14 points in the second half. He added five assists and seven steals, which helped the Aggies to a season-high 15 steals. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings also helped defensively with seven steals along with 19 points and seven rebounds.
