Aggies to Face South Alabama Tonight
The New Mexico State men's basketball team hits the road to take on South Alabama, Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. in Mobile, Ala. The game can be heard on the Aggie Sports Network and KGRT 104 FM in Las Cruces with the 'Voice of the Aggies' Jack Nixon, and the pregame show starts 30 minutes prior to tip.
New Mexico State Aggies
The Aggies are 4-4 this season following a 68-60 win over Southern Mississippi, Dec. 1, in Las Cruces. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings is leading the team with 14.0 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Senior forward Tyrone Watson adds 12.3 points per game each, and senior forward Bandja Sy is contributing 8.4 points per game.
Scouting South Alabama
The Jaguars are 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the Sun Belt. South Alabama opened conference play with a 77-66 win at Florida Atlantic, Nov. 29, and 79-68 win at Florida International, Dec 1. South Alabama has three players in double figures with junior forward Augustine Rubit averaging 19.1 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Junior guard Xavier Roberson and sophomore guard Mychal Ammons help the offense with 13.7 and 12.4 points per game, respectively.
The Aggies have a slight 7-6 lead in the all-time series. This is the first meeting between the two programs since the 2004-05 season. South Alabama won the last two meetings in the series, 73-67, Jan. 15, 2005 in Mobile, Ala., and 63-55, Feb. 12, 2005 in Las Cruces.
Aggies Beat Southern Miss 68-60
NM State handed Southern Mississippi its first loss of the season with a 68-60 decision, Dec. 1 in Las Cruces. The Aggies stayed perfect inside the Pan American Center with its fourth win of the year. Sophomore guard Daniel Mullings recorded his first double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds. It was Mullings' third 20-point game of the season. Freshman center Sim Bhullar contributed a career-high 17 points and seven rebounds.
Aggies Fall in a Heartbreaker at UTEP 55-54
NM State suffered a tough one-point loss, 55-54, at I-10 rival UTEP, Nov. 28 in El Paso, Texas. Senior forward Tyrone Watson led the Aggies with 13 points. Junior center Tshilidzi Nephawe and sophomore guard K.C. Ross-Miller both added nine points each.
