The New Mexico State University cross country teams concluded their season when they finished fourth in both the men's and women's event at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The men's team finished fourth with a team score of 101. The University of Texas-Arlington finished first, Utah State University finished second and Seattle University finished third in the men's event. The women's team finished fourth with a time of 83. University of Idaho finished first, University of Texas-San Antonio finished second and Utah State finished third in the women's event.

Seniors Courtney and Camille Schultz were each named to the first team All-WAC when Courtney finished second overall with a time of 17:25.81 and Camille finished sixth overall with a time of 17:42.22 in the women's 5K. This is the fourth year the Schultz twins have received first team All-WAC honors. Junior Sarabel Bojorquez finished third for NM State and 22nd overall with a time of 18:24.20. Sophomore Diana Hawk followed closely behind Bojorquez and finished fourth for NM State and 24th overall with a time of 18:26.74. Sophomore Caroline Lewiecki rounded out the top five for NM State when she finished fifth for NM State and 30th overall with a time of 18:43.68.

Juniors Gael Sanchez and Rylie Hightower finished sixth and seventh overall for NM State respectively. Sanchez finished with a time of 18:51.83 and Hightower finished with a time of 18:51.93. Freshman Mayra Chavez finished eighth for NM State with a time of 19:07.17 and junior Jenna Padilla finished ninth for NM State with a time of 19:39.87.

Senior Jonah Ruybalid was named to the second team All-WAC when he finished first for NM State and 10th overall with a time of 24:52.28 in the men's 8K. Freshman Paul Raymond followed up by finishing second for NM State and 16th overall with a time of 25:08.45. Seniors Robert Selph and Anthony Ellis finished third and fourth overall for NM State respectively. Selph placed 23rd overall with a time of 25:17.11 and Ellis finished 24th overall with a time of 25:19.59. Senior Ian Ruybalid rounded out the top five for NM State when he finished fifth for NM State and 28th overall with a time of 25:29.44.

Two more Aggies finished behind Rubalid to claim 29th and 30th overall. Senior Ryan Fenton finished sixth for NM State with a time of 25:33.96 and junior Kevin Palmer finished seventh for NM State with a time of 25:34.21. Senior Kevin Hemphill finished eighth for NM State with a time of 25:44.45 and senior Terry Williams finished ninth for NM State with a time of 26:09.76.

The NCAA Regional Championships will take place on Friday, Nov. 9, in Fort Collins, Colo.
