The New Mexico State baseball team faces Texas Tech in a single game Monday, March 25 before hitting the road, Thursday through Saturday, March 28-30, to play CSU-Bakersfield in a three-game WAC series.

Monday’s game versus Texas Tech begins at 6:05 p.m. (MT). Thursday and Friday’s games start 7:00 p.m. (MT) with the series finale against CSU-Bakersfield beginning at 2:00 p.m. (MT).

MEDIA COVERAGE: NM State baseball fans will have plenty of opportunities to follow their Aggies on the radio again this season with the voice of Aggie baseball, Jeff Matthews on KSNM AM 570. The Aggies are scheduled to broadcast 34 games this season, plus any in the post season.
The game against Texas Tech is scheduled to air on the radio in Las Cruces on KSNM AM 570, with Jeff Matthews.

Fans can also listen to the Texas Tech game live on the Internet by clicking on the live events link on www.NMStateSports.com for a fee.

PROMOTIONS: Monday night will be Baseball Bingo Night. Aggie fans are encouraged to head out to Presley Askew Field to win great Aggie prizes. Kid 12 and under get into the game free while adult tickets are only $6. Call 646-1420 to purchase your tickets or buy them at the ticket booth located at the ballpark.

MONDAY’S OPPONENT: The Aggies take on Texas Tech for the 56 time with TTU leading the series 39-16. NM State lost the most recent match-up, 12-7 in Las Cruces, May 1, 2012. According to the NM State media guide, the two teams first met in 1965.

MONDAY’S STARTING PITCHER: Sophomore left-hander Trey Higginbotham gets the start for the Aggies against Texas Tech on Monday. This will be just his second start of the year and career. His first career start came against Alabama A&M on March 16 when he worked 5.0 innings and struck out a career-high seven batters. The Aggies won 5-3 in the seven-inning affair while the two runs Higginbotham gave up were unearned.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Senior center fielder Kyle Phillips hit .500 against Texas State last week going 6-of-12 at the dish. He posted two doubles and a home run while finishing the week with five RBI. Phillips has now boosted his batting average to .289 on the year with seven doubles, a triple and a home run. He has 12 RBI's and 26 runs scored this season while taking control of the Aggie defense in centerfield.

Senior infielder Bobby Lecount hit .417 in the weekend series against Texas State with a double, a home run and a .750 slugging percentage. He is hitting .358 on the season with a team-high five home runs and a team-high .593 slugging percentage. Lecount blasted a home run over the leftfield wall in the series finale against Texas State to tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the first inning.
