Las Cruces — The New Mexico State football team once again gets involved with the Las Cruces community as upwards of 20 players will participate in the Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic at the Las Cruces Convention Center, March 2-3.
The purpose of the clinic is to provide a free dental care to over a possible 2000 local residents. The Aggies will work in four hour shifts, helping in all aspects of the event from set-up, tear down, handing out food and drinks, registration, helping keep supplies stocked and patient escort throughout the clinic.
Taking pride in everything you do or have are just some of the principles and values NM State Head Football Coach DeWayne Walker has instilled in his football team over the last four years. This Saturday, March 3, the Aggies will show that pride as they join together to improve Aggie Memorial Stadium beginning at 9 a.m.
“We are just taking pride in our program and our facility in Aggie Memorial Stadium,” Walker said. “I came up with the idea to take the bull by the horns and get the team together to do some maintenance around of facility but at the same time this gives our team the ability to continue to build some chemistry and teamwork.”
The Aggies will engage in activities such as carpentry, painting and power washing at the stadium, all in an effort to generate greater pride for their home during Saturday’s in the fall. Aggie fans are invited to join in on the fun and interact with the players and coaches.
“As a team we have everything in order when it comes to supplies but we always welcome the opportunity to engage with our fans,” Walker said.
