UTEP dropped to 5-8 all-time in bowl games with its fifth straight loss. The Miners are 7-29-1 versus BYU.

Marlon McClure’s 72-yard kickoff return in the first quarter was a New Mexico Bowl record and his third-longest return of the season (100 yards at Arkansas, 73 yards at Tulsa).

Trevor Vittatoe concludes his college career having started all 49 games that he played in. Only Minnesota’s Adam Weber owns more career starts (50) among active FBS quarterbacks.

Vittatoe ends his career with 12,439 yards passing (14th on the all-time FBS list), 97 touchdown passes (15th) and 12,291 yards of total offense (15th).

Vittatoe is third on the C-USA career total offense list, having eclipsed Louisville’s Chris Redman today.

Kris Adams’ career also ends with a reception in each of his last 37 collegiate games.

Adams recorded 30 touchdown receptions in his career, the second-top total in UTEP history behind Johnnie Lee Higgins Jr.’s 32. Adams is also fourth in school annals with 2,657 receiving yards, and tied for fourth with ten 100-yard receiving games.

Adams is the first player in school history to have four games with three touchdown receptions. Chuck Hughes (1964-66) and Johnnie Lee Higgins Jr. (2003-06) each achieved the feat in three games.

Adams’ 153 receiving yards were a career-high (previous best 148 yards at Arkansas earlier this season).

The 2010 Miners finished the season with 1,538 kickoff return yards, a school record. The previous standard was 1,365 yards in 2008.

The 202 kickoff returns today marked the eighth-highest game total in school history.

The –12 rushing yards were the fewest by a UTEP team since compiling –53 rushing yards at New Mexico in 2001.

UTEP bowl records established today included receiving yards (Kris Adams 153) and kickoff return yards (Marlon McClure 125, ties the record).

In 13 games this season, UTEP’s opponent scored a touchdown on its initial drive seven times.
