Monday, August 9:  2 UTEP Football Players, Defensive Back Travaun Nixon and Receiver Marlon McClure were suspended for violating team rules.  Nixon will miss the season opener against Arkansas Pine-Bluff, while McClure will miss the season opener, and the second game of the season against Houston.  Both players will continue to practice with the team.  UTEP Head Coach Mike Price said, "Well, I didn't actually suspend him from the team, because I think it will be better for them to be with the team, rather than to go home for a month and not do anything. So they are with the team, and I am punishing them. Lord help me I am punishing them."
