Friday was the sixth and final day of the Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge. The group of more than 200 cyclists rode their bikes 64 miles from Cleburne to Fort Worth on the warm, sunny, spring day, completing their 450 mile journey.
It was a soggy start to the Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge Day 5 from Waco to Cleburne. More than 200 injured and healing servicemembers and veterans took the road on their bicycles in the windy, rainy conditions.
Day 3 of the Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge was much shorter in mileage than previous days, but certainly not much sweeter. After traveling 190 miles in two days, one would think that 44 miles would be easy, right? Wrong!
"The headwinds and crosswinds were pushing my bike and hitting the wheels, making it a very difficult ride," said CW2 Waldemar Miro as he described his first day of the Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge.
We are boarding our plane now. Our check-in with all of the luggage and bike boxes was super easy. Southwest Airlines attendants were very helpful and TSA representatives promised to treat our bikes with special care.
