Every day more than fifteen thousand people commute between El Paso and Las Cruces.
With the rising gasoline prices and the tough economy, there ought to be a better way and Las Cruces is working on a solution to the problem. The city is looking into the possibility of building a commuter rail line between the two cities. Las Cruces M-P-O officer Tom Murphy says within a year there could be a rapid bus service between the two cities as a pilot program to further test the feasibility of the rail line.
