Once families were displaced when their ceilings collapsed at Machuca Apartments, the American Red Cross El Paso Chapter stepped in to help.

The organization gave the families money cards to buy food and replace any belongings they may have lost. They also found them accommodations at local hotels if they had no friends or family in the area to stay with.

"We ask our donors to step in and say help us save the day, to be right there with us when families really have nowhere else to turn," said executive director Mark Matthys.

They are currently accepting monetary donations. If you are interested in donating, they are accepting monetary donations. You can stop by their location at Montana and Admiral or call at (915) 592-0208.

"It's always the greatest feeling of accomplishment to see the relief on families' faces," Matthys said.
