It's true that science and math are integral to our nation's success; however, if the kids can't read or understand the science and math materials, what's the point? If we want more kids studying math and science, they necessarily must be better readers. I disagree that the educational system only promotes reading. If it did, we'd have better all-around students. We don't. Too many kids are in high school and are lacking in all areas of education, not merely one or two of them.
