Re: City Council Lays Blame for Power/Water Crisis

The power company wants to undertake the $225 million solar project as part of $550 million in capital improvements that include a new, 80 megawatt gas-fired "peaker" in Sunland Park, N.M., and a 144 megawatt expansion of its Newman Plant, which also is powered by natural gas. The solar part of the project is expected to cost residential ratepayers an extra $1.50 a month for the next five years and the gas-fired components are expected to cost another $1.50.
