El Paso, TX — A final round surge wasn't enough to catapult UTEP's Martin Simonsen to the NCAA Championships, as he finished tied for 12th place with an even-par 216 (74-72-70).
Simonsen closes out the 2013-14 season with a 72.7 scoring average over 41 rounds of competition.
He finished 10 strokes behind TCU's Julien Brun, who was the individual medalist and entrant to the NCAA Championships (67-67-72) since his team didn't finish in the top five. TCU landed sixth overall (290-288-293-871). The top five teams, all advancing to NCAAs, were Georgia (281-285-287-853), Georgia State (292-285-289-866), Vanderbilt (295-273-299-867), SMU (288-282-298-868) and UCLA (290-288-291-869).
