El Paso (KTSM) — The Texas Statewide Primary election was held in March, but some races have yet to be decided. Tuesday, Texans will have their chance to decide who will be the final nominee for each party for the 2014 midterm election.
Some of the state's more contentious races are the Republican race for Lieutenant Governor, which has been a heated race between the incumbent, David Dewhurst against State Senator and Texas Tea Party darling, Dan Patrick.
On the Democratic ticket, the US Senator race between Dallas area dentist David Alameel and Kesha Rogers who, despite running on the Democratic ticket, has been the target of criticism from Texas Democratic party chairman Gilberto Hinojosa. Rogers, a LaRoche Democrat is calling for the impeachment of President Obama, and the race has gotten nationwide attention.
Locally, the biggest race to watch is for Texas House District 76 between Cesar Blanco and Norma Chavez on the Democratic Runoff ticket. Incumbent, Naomi Gonzalez, was outsted in March when she failed to garner enough votes to get her into the run-off election.
