El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Each year since 1967, the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY ) celebrates the birth of Hans Christian Andersen on April 2 by celebrating International Children's Book Day.
Each year, IBBY designates a different National Section to decide a theme and invites a prominent author from the host country to write a message to to children of the world, they also invite a prominent illustrator to design a poster.
The purpose of the International Children's Book day is to promote literacy across the world.
