Las Cruces, NM — The No. 47 ranked New Mexico State men’s golf team will be back on the golf course this weekend for their second tournament of the week, March 14-16, at the 2014 NIT, in Tucson, Ariz. The tournament will be held at the 7,094-yard, par 72, Omni Tucson National – Catalina Course.
“We are going to play against a lot of good teams at the NIT,” head coach Mike Dirks said. “This will give us a chance to compete against some of the best teams in the nation. The guys really love to compete, so I’m excited to see how we handle playing against this type of competition.”
Junior Brett Walker, senior Willy Hogan, sophomore Kenneth Fadke II, junior Pat Beyhan, freshman Luis Medina and sophomore Joey Martinez will travel for the Aggies.
The tournament format will consist of 18 holes each day with an 8 a.m. (MT) shot gun. The Aggies will face Arizona, No. 3 California, Marquette, No. 20 New Mexico, No. 2 Oklahoma State, San Diego, San Diego State, SMU, TCU, No. 9 Texas A&M, No. 24 UNLV, UTEP and Wyoming.
Last year at the NIT, the Aggies finished 10th with a three-round score of 9-over par. Fadke II lead the Aggies in the tournament with a 1-under par, 215 (72-70-73), placing in a tie for 19th overall.
