LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The City of Las Cruces Network Volunteer Center and local nonprofit groups will host the third annual Las Cruces Volunteer Fair Saturday.
The fair will provide about 40 groups the opportunity to recruit volunteers for various programs and services throughout the community.
"We're very excited abut this year's Volunteer Fair," said Genevieve Kirk, volunteer coordinator.
The fair encourage networking as organizers say sometimes retired folks don't have many friends after relocating to the area.
Jerry Gunderson, a volunteer with many organizations, said the fair is a good way to meet new people and helps retirees stay active.
"I think it's important to just keep your mind working otherwise you're going to get stale and you don't want that," Gunderson said.
The fair will run Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Branigan Cultural Center on 501 N. Main Street.
