EPCSO: 80,000lbs of groceries in trailer
EAST EL PASO, TX — Interstate 10 was reopened around noon on Saturday after an eastbound semi-tractor trailer flipped over.
El Paso County Sheriff's Officials say the wreck happened early Saturday morning, on the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just past the Eastlake on-ramp.
Officials say the driver of the tractor-trailer, carrying up to 80,000 pounds of groceries, fell asleep at the wheel, tried to overcorrect, but then flipped on its side.
The driver was with his son but nobody was hurt.
Traffic was diverted from the freeway at the Eastlake off-ramp and onto Gateway East.
As TxDoT workers cleared the debris from a knocked-over sign, other workers were taking boxes from the overturned trailer, placing them on pallets to load into another truck.
