Amarillo, Texas (NBC) — A different type of vending machine is showing up inside some bars in Texas, the latest in Amarillo.
For two dollars, people can blow into a machine that will measure their blood alcohol content level.
The owner of the Boozelator is giving bars and restaurants the machine for free, with the hope it will reduce drinking and driving. Police officers say the machine results don't guarantee you won't face drunk driving charges on the streets.
"For someone who uses the machine, there are other people looking and observing what's going on. Therefore, maybe in the back of their mind they're saying maybe I should call a friend or maybe I should call a cab. That's our primary objective," said Dave Melton, owner of the bar.
Right now there are about 50 of the machines set up in bars across Texas.
