Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) — Las Cruces Police have arrested a Las Cruces woman and two El Paso men suspected of robbing a woman over a drug debt at a Las Cruces hotel Monday afternoon.
LCPD allege 32-year-old Guadalupe Talamantes Calderon and 29-year-old Christopher Brian Nelson drove from El Paso to Las Cruces looking for a man who owed the pair money for selling drugs on their behalf. Calderon and Nelson allegedly enlisted the help of 36-year-old Susan J. Hylton of Las Cruces to help them find the man they were looking for.
The three allegedly went to the Teakwood Inn, located at 2600 S. Valley Dr. just after 2:00 p.m. where LCPD say they barged into a room of a 29-year-old woman and demanded that she tell them where they could find them man who allegedly owed them money. The woman refused to help the three, and then proceeded to take the woman's cell phone and cash before leaving the room.
The trio then left the Teakwood Inn, traveling in a white GMC Yukon which left heading north on Valley Drive where LCPD pulled them over. Police say that a second woman was also in the Yukon with the three, but she is not facing any charges at this time.
During their investigation, LCPD discovered that Nelson had three outstanding warrants from outside New Mexico and Hylton had six warrants for her arrest initiating from Las Cruces. Police have charged Calderon, Nelson and Hylton with one count each of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, they were each booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
